RunGo releases the most advanced, simple, and useful Race Live Tracking experience for races

Highlights:

  • The first complete live race tracking fully enabled by a running watch alone

  • Works with spotty coverage

  • New: the craziest fun participant experience features

October, 2023 – Race live tracking, letting spectators, family, friends, and race directors, to see where participants are on the course, can be a huge advancement for races. It can help with safety, race experience for the participants, and cheering experience for fans.

RunGo, the popular route creation and sharing platform, run tracking technology, and app that gives custom directions, releases the most innovative solution for race live tracking.

Now, you can have participants fully tracked, continuously, on the web, using just a running watch or any phone, with smart cellular usage with caching, supporting spotty coverage.

Plus, introducing some crazy new fun features for the runners. Read on...

If you've ever tried another race live tracking solution, you either had to:

  • Download a cumbersome app even just to spectate!

  • Relied to location from timing mats and a random guess where the participant was in between those mats!

  • Depend on an infrastructure-heavy solution

  • Need extra, bulky GPS or satellite devices to be carried

  • Didn't benefit the participant or make a more enjoyable or valuable experience

Imagine instead knowing:

  • When will the leaders or any participant will arrive at an aid station, cheering spot, or finish line

  • If a runner has gone off course

  • That you don’t need to feel anxious to miss your friend while cheering on course

Races can enable Live Race Tracking for a Verified RunGo course route. And any participant who uses that route will be added to the web map with their location, progress, and speed. This even works from an Apple Watch cellular, alone, or with an Android or iPhone. Why Apple Watch? It is the most used running watch in the market, by 10x, and the only running watch capable of this level of technology.

Runners can enjoy the unique audio-guided running (optionally) while on course. This can include mentions about course progress, length of hills, distance to upcoming aid stations, points-of-interest you’re passing, description of the neighbourhood or attraction you’re passing fully customizable. The result of this RunGo app experience is:

  • You, the runner, won’t get lost on course – sadly this still happens to others! Not to RunGo users

  • You get to know where you’re running, what you’re seeing, and what’s coming up, in a subtle and helpful way.

Now you're wondering, what are those crazy new fun features for runners? This is where RunGo's innovation comes in! Introducing:

  • Live cheer sites: runners can receive live updates where their fans are positioned. Spectators enter their location or use dynamic location, and runners will hear advanced warning of their location. Give your high 5 and smile ready!

  • Live racer-to-racer positioning: get notified through audio when a friend on the course is close and getting closer: “Courtney Dauwalter is 800 metres ahead of you” … “Courtney Dauwalter is 400 metres ahead of you” (well, we can all wish, right?)

What kind of race or event is this for? Live Race Tracking works on Apple Watch cellular alone for up to 6 hours, on Apple Watch with phone or any phone for approximately 10 hours, for Apple Watch Ultra for 12-15 hours.

These new features will be rolling out to select races in the coming months.

Race Live Tracking is available to all races and trusted already.
