How to participate
Step 1: Get the free RunGo app
If you’d like to run our suggested, curated route, download the RunGo app for iPhone or Android.
We suggest creating a free RunGo account to keep track of your completed runs, but this is optional to participate.
Step 2: Check out our routes
You’ll get the routes once you register. Read the route’s description on RunGo to prepare for your run.
Step 3: Run the route!
You can follow these routes on RunGo with the built-in turn-by-turn voice navigation, without getting lost, and without needing a map! Press “Start” or “Run”!
If running remotely, choose Virtual Treadmill or Virtual Outdoor Mode (if you’re not at the real route)
During your run, keep going until you hear “Stop the timer now.”
We suggest trying a dry run, as a separate run or warm-up.
Step 4: Seamless submit to the leaderboard
At the end of the run, you'll have the option in the RunGo app to “Share with Virtual Race,” where you’ll select your race by name.
Please enter the same details each time to make sure your runs all merge.
This will seamlessly add your run or runs to the leaderboard on the race website.
Step 5: Celebrate!
You did it! Check the race’s website as the leaderboard is constantly updated. Tell us your story! Share your run, photo, or video on social media, and mention @rungoapp, #dashfordogs, @bcandalbertaguidedogs, or #rungoapp
Alternate steps 1-4
You may also submit any run activity! If you run with the RunGo app, but a different route, or without following a route, you can submit to the leaderboard at the completion of your run.
You may also submit from another running app or manually, via the form below.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to run the suggested route?
No, you may run anywhere you like, even on a treadmill. Even a 130 foot lap in your backyard!
Can I listen to music while using the RunGo route?
Yes. RunGo will lower the music volume for a moment while telling you where to go, then the music will come back.
How do I find the route in the RunGo app?
Open the route on the web on your phone, then tap the button “View in RunGo App” to view the route in the app. The app will open on the route page. You can also search for the route in the app; just make sure you have the correct one.
Should I run with the RunGo Apple Watch app?
We recommend using the iPhone or Android apps for this experience, as they have the pre-recorded audio messages. The Apple Watch app will navigate you and track your run, but it will miss this extra feature. We hope to release it shortly.
What happens if I go off course by mistake?
The RunGo app will remind you that you're off course. It will only remind you a second time if you're still off course before assuming you're doing that deliberately. You can open the map in the app to figure out where to go, if you need.
How much does the app cost?
It's free! There are some power-user features for a paid upgrade, but that doesn't change this virtual race experience.
Do I need the app to follow the route?
It's certainly recommended -- it's much easier. But you may also view the route on the web on your phone. If you grant access for location to your browser, you can see your location as the familiar blue dot, and you can trace the route that way too.
Does the app use cellular data while I'm out?
As soon as you start the route, no data is used by the app. The route is saved to your phone, so the app works offline.
