Do I need to have a RunGo account?
No, you can use the app without an account. You will want to enter your name and/or bib for the live tracking to identify you properly.
Do I need to pay for RunGo for Live Tracking to work?
Your race has partnered with RunGo to enable this feature, so there is no cost to you at all.
Can I lock my phone screen once I start running?
With the RunGo app, absolutely! You’ll hear the audio messages and navigation. At any time, you can open the app to check the map or Augmented Reality mode (AR) on the iPhone too.
Can I listen to music while using the RunGo route?
Yes. RunGo will lower the music volume for a moment while telling you where to go, then the music will come back.
What happens if I go off course by mistake?
The RunGo app will remind you that you're off course. It will only remind you a second time if you're still off course before assuming you're doing that deliberately. You can open the map in the app to figure out where to go, if you need.
Which devices can I use?
You can use an iPhone, Android, or Apple Watch. Phones more than 5 years old may not last with their battery for the normal 10+ hours. Please make sure you have a full battery, don’t use too many other apps, and monitor the level occasionally.
An Apple Watch with cellular (alone) will also do all the navigation, custom course messages, and Live Tracking, without your phone. Please monitor your battery life occasionally, as this is a new feature.
Does the app use cellular data while I'm out?
As soon as you start the route, the route is saved to your phone and will function offline, with no data. The Live Tracking feature uses a small amount of data to update the race map of your location.
What do I do if I accidentally stop my run too early?
Start a new one. The app will pick you up from your current location.
How much battery will the app use?
For complete audio navigation, GPS tracking, and Live Tracking updates, most phones can handle 10 hours of operation. Please make sure your battery is charged as much as possible before you start.
Does it work where there’s not much cellular coverage?
Yes, the phone will save your tracks and upload whenever you get a sliver of cell coverage.
Can I put the route on another GPS watch instead?
Sure, your route will have its GPX file unlocked on RunGo. However, to be part of the Live Tracking page, you will also need the RunGo app running.
If you would rather not hear the navigations and course details, just turn the volume down in the RunGo app settings.
